Of particular interest to the GD I class (Xtra-Credit!!!) working on their Architecture Poster, note the following event related to Atlanta Design Week:
Typographically Speaking in Atlanta's Built Environment
Type Walk, sponsored by AIGA Atlanta and the Art Institute
Saturday, October 30th
10 am-11:30 am
Starbucks (Downtown)
As part of Atlanta Design Week 2010, The Art Institute of Atlanta and AIGA-Atlanta present the stories that letters found in the built environment tell us about our cultural and historic design past. This guided walk down Peachtree Street and surrounds presents the design intersection of industrial design (for fabrication), graphic design (for typeface) and architecture (for the building).
Walk starts at Starbucks by the Peachtree Center MARTA station. Take Harris St./America's Mart exit out of underground station up to P'tree St.. Starbucks will be to the left (north). Walk ends near 5 Points MARTA station.
Rain or shine, the walk lasts approximately 90 minutes. Dress comfortably and weather appropriate. Walk starts promptly.
Limited group size. Pre-registration required at: http://www.aiga-atl.org/event.jsp?navigation=13&content=519
Questions? Contact Sue Youngblood at sue@aiga-atl.org
For those in the GD II and GD III class, this will most certainly count as an Outside-of-Class-Participation event. Be sure to take pictures or otherwise prove you were there!
