AIGA Student Membership Drive until Oct. 31

For those of you who attended the meeting with Alicia Prentice (former UWG graphic design student/currently student at Portfolio Center) last week you may remember that one of her strong words of advice (and mine as well) is that it is just plain C-R-A-A-A-Z-Z-Y for anyone serious about entering the graphic design profession to NOT belong to AIGA!!!! It is a completely invaluable resource for networking, job info, meeting like-minded individuals, students from other schools, etc., etc., etc. There is a very active Student Board at AIGA Atlanta, and of course, AIGA Atlanta hosts many important events throughout the year. Being a member allows you to attend events at a discounted rate, but the main reason to join is to join and become a part of a larger community.

Check out both the AIGA National website ( http://www.aiga.org/ ) and also the AIGA Atlanta site ( http://www.aiga-atl.org/ ). A wealth of info.

Great news for students...until October 31, all new student memberships and renewals (previous membership must have expired) are $50 for the year. Simply log on at aiga.org to the student membership area under “Join”, create your account, pay directly online and the price will reflect the discount (students will be required to submit proof of student status after registering).

Be sure you list "University of West Georgia" as your affiliation! This will allow us to get "credit" for you with AIGA Atlanta and AIGA National. Also, when you join, please let me know by e-mail (jhannaford@comcast.net) so that I can check and be sure you are on our roster.
