GD II for Thursday, Oct. 21

Do much, much more drawing using pencil/eraser on tracing paper. When the ideas start to develop, you might then do some versions in marker to see how the ideas are translating into more stark black and white. Do drawings of anything that might become a "symbol"--or a series of symbols. Yes, as Chris expressed an interest in "characters," we should attempt to solve his problem with that, but I do not think that should be the only line of thinking we should pursue.

Also, try a number of different variations of the type in different typefaces. A couple that come to mind are Curlz, and Remedy. Both of these have a playful, almost childlike quality. As I said in class, go to "dafonts.com" and they have a feature where you can type in some words, and the site will display those words in a number of different typestyles.

Minimum of 20 name versions in type printed out. Plan ways of altering/customizing the type in some way. Also do some handwritten type (try all caps, all lowercase, bold, script, italic, etc. in your own handwriting.)
