Field trip confirmed

I have just confirmed with Mac Papers that we will be there for a field trip at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 12. Their warehouse is in Lithia Springs, which is approximately 45 minutes (or maybe a little less) from Carrollton. I know some of you have classes before our 11:00 time slot, so hopefully your instructors will agree to let you leave class a little early in order to be there promptly at 11. If you will provide me with your instructor's name and e-mail address, I will be glad to contact them and request permission. The tour will take about an hour, so we should be able to be back in Carrollton in plenty of time for your next class.

Lindsay Owenby, former UWG graphic design student (Class of '09) works for Mac and has graciously arranged this visit for us. Steve, the manager, has been generous to offer field trips for West Georgia students in the past. They usually go like this: he starts by explaining the business that Mac Papers does with printers and designers. He then gives a tour of the warehouse and explains the process professional designers use when ordering paper. The tour then usually ends at the Design Center on the premises and he gives you some time in the Sample Room to grab some paper samples.

The address is: 460 Riverside Parkway, Lithia Springs, GA 30122. Word of warning: this address is in some sort of satellite black hole for your GPS. Do not be confused. The closest address that comes up for me on my GPS is something like "360 Riverside Parkway." If you just go there, and keep going straight through the next big intersection, the huge Mac Paper building in on your right just past the light.

This field trip is intended mostly for the GD III class, but other graphic design students are welcome to join us if you'd like. Please let me know if you intend to accompany us so I can give Mac a head count of expected visitors. (They usually put together a goodie bag.)
