Do minimum of 20-30 NEW sketches of your name. Try all of the following: all lowercase, all uppercase, mixture of upper and lower, only first name, only last name, altering and customizing letterforms, experimenting. Do some closely related to a typeface or typefaces, and some that are more hand-drawn and/or related to your handwriting/signature. I am looking for enthusiastic trial and error and engagement in the process. We will have a class critique.
Work on clean 11" x 14" tracing paper with pencil and black sharpie markers. Leave adequate room around each sketch so you can visually evaluate it as you work. ALWAYS bring this + your textbook to class for the next few weeks.
